home network

I have several Linux boxes and my wife has a windows machine. I have built a small home network. I am using static ip addresses instead of dhcp and this seems to work out well.

I have found that the main use I have for the network is to back up files. Also, I often use my wife's computer to check email and download files, because her machine is nearby. After I have downloaded a file, if it is a linux program, I move it to my linux machine via the home network
